How to make your Competition Entry Sparkle
When entering a competition, it’s not just about your original work, but its also about your ability to polish and your refine your story so it stands out from the crowd. Here are five ways to improve your chances at winning.
- Write your first draft at least a month before entering.
- Don’t look at it for a week or two – letting it rest will enable you to be more critical of your work.
- Edit edit edit – not just spelling and punctuation, but think about how you can strengthen your story and characters.
- Read it aloud.
- Get someone else to check it over for mistakes.
